My mind has been clouded with thoughts about this new generation of conformists. I try not to think about it because it's silly to care what people do with their lives.

Still, it is disturbing to see people making an effort not only to look like each other, but to talk like each other, reject anyone who doesn't conform and to gain a sense of superiority because of it.

It's like a fifteen year old who believes he is a higher form of life because his parents are affluent and bought him a luxury vehicle.

Is it a result of our humanity or culture? I'd like to believe it's the latter, that we're a culture of conformists because we are raised to be stupid and afraid, whether it's through fear of going to Hell or thinking in a way our parents may disapprove of. Maybe the cause is rampant censorship; a corporation now thinks it's their duty to "protect" us from Howard Stern. Maybe it's how we aren't trusted to make certain decisions before adulthood. So a bunch of dumb kids are fucking and getting drunk until they can't stand. They don't know how to think for themselves because they've never been taught so they join a group of other fucked up kids and conform to their rules and pretend they aren't their parents.

It bugs me like crazy.
